Dina Lohan's Excuses: Lindsay Lohan's Accidents Wouldn't Have Happen If She ... - Huffington Post

With the number of available cabs and other car services in New York, we assumed that only club goers and bartenders needed to prepare for Lindsay Lohan's move to New York -- we were wrong.

The 26-year-old actress' arrest for hitting a pedestrian and fleeing the scene on Tuesday night has us absolutely baffled when it comes to why Lohan was driving in New York (and has us wondering how high her insurance premiums must be).

The star was reportedly attempting to park her Porsche in front of her hotel at 2 a.m., when she allegedly hit the knee of a man. TMZ is reporting that Lohan has told friends she had no idea she hit anyone and it wasn't until she was arrested that she realized anything had happened.

Lohan's latest vehicular mishap is especially ironic given the comments her mother Dina made in a recent interview with Dr. Phil. Dina appeared inebriated in the interview (though she denies being drunk), and when Dr. Phil began reading off the laundry list of car accidents and legal troubles that Lindsay has been involved in, Dina made yet another excuse for her daughter

"[If] she was living in New York that wouldn`t -- five of them would be obsolete," she told Dr. Phil of the many accidents.

It looks like that's one excuse Dina isn't going to be able to use again, but a perfect example of her enabling behavior. Lohan's accident comes just days after she was seen drinking at her mother's 50th birthday party, and after she blasted fellow driving disaster Amanda Bynes for her accidents.

"Why did I get put in jail and a nickelodeon star has had NO punishment(s) so far?" Lohan tweeted on Sept. 17.

When asked about Dina's excuses and why Lindsay was driving in New York City in the first place, the actress' rep Steve Honig, told The Huffington Post that they were not commenting at this time.

Lindsay Lohan's latest fender bender -- smashing into the back of an 18-wheeler -- is just the latest mark on her less than stellar driving record. In July 2011, Lohan was involved in an alleged hit-and-run, though charges were never filed. Perhaps it's time for <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/liz-smith/lindsay-lohan-should-not-drive-liz-smith_b_1589293.html?utm_hp_ref=celebrity" target="_hplink">Lohan to hire a driver?</a> Lindsay's latest string of traffic busts comes after her 2007 DUI arrest.

  • Amanda Bynes

Although this former Nickelodeon star claims she doesn't drink, <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/06/amanda-bynes-charged-dui-barack-obama_n_1573423.html" target="_hplink">Amanda Bynes was charged with DUI</a> after she side-swiped a cop car in early April. But the actress' poor judgement doesn't stop there. Just days later, Bynes was involved in an alleged hit-and-run, although no charges have been filed.

  • Charlie Sheen

Charlie Sheen may not necessarily be a bad driver, but he doesn't have great luck when it comes to his four-wheel friends. In 2010, one of Charlie's vehicles was found at the bottom of a cliff and <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2010/06/15/charlie-sheen-car-over-a-cliff-hollywood-hills-stolen/" target="_hplink">not four months later the <em>same</em> thing happened again</a>! Both times the vehicles appeared to have been stolen and rolled to their rocky demise.

  • January Jones

Although we can partially blame this one on the hounding paparazzi, January Jones might consider enrolling in a few driving obstacle courses. While being chased by photographers in West Hollywood, the actress lost control of her vehicle, colliding with three parked cars in the process.

  • LeAnn Rimes

LeAnn Rimes wasn't the luckiest of gals in 2009. After a minor car crash in August of that year, just a month later the singer was trying to escape shutter-happy photographers by stepping on the gas (are we sensing a pattern here?) -- <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20305599,00.html" target="_hplink">too bad she accelerated into the car in front of her</a>.

  • Britney Spears

She certainly isn't going to earn any "Mother of the Year" awards <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,1157153,00.html" target="_hplink">after infamously driving with her baby on her lap in 2006</a>, and it appears she's also a black sheep when it comes to the rules of the road. Spears reportedly left her car unattended in the middle of a road after getting a flat tire in 2009. The singer has also been "charged with a hit and run, driving without a valid license, and was under fire as well for running over a paparazzo's foot," <a href="http://www.thedailybeast.com/galleries/2010/07/07/worst-celebrity-drivers.html#slide7" target="_hplink">according to The Daily Beast</a>.

  • Enrique Iglesias

There's only one way Enrique Iglesias could ever turn <em>off</em> a fan -- by running over their foot with his car! That's exactly what the singer did after a 2007 concert. Iglesias' vehicle (his manager was driving) was swarmed by fans after his concert and, in attempt to evade the crowd, the pair accidentally ran over an 11-year-old girl's foot.

  • Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie's drug-induced state of mind had her driving down the wrong side of the freeway (!!!) in 2006. But since then, <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/10/party-girls-to-momtrepreneurs-celebrity-moms-cash-in-on-motherhood_n_1507275.html" target="_hplink">Richie has gone from wild child to "momtrepreneur</a>."

  • George Michael

You'd think that a two-year driving ban might might make you crack open your "Rules of the Road" handbook, but that's not the case when it comes to George Michael. The singer had his license revoked in 2007 after driving under the influence of drugs. And three years later, Michael <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/06/george-michael-crashes-ca_n_636025.html" target="_hplink">crashed his Range Rover into the front of a London camera shop</a>.

  • Billy Joel

Billy Joel is among the celebrity set to have more than a few run-ins with the dreaded letters: D.U.I. In 2002 the singer set off a string of collisions. The second accident involved a tree and the third, a house.

  • Mischa Barton

Mischa Barton is nears the top of the chart when it comes to worst celebrity drivers. In 2007, <a href="http://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/2007/03/mischa-barton-is-a-bad-actress-and-a-bad-driver/" target="_hplink">she got in a minor fender bender while driving Nicole Richie's car</a> in Los Angeles. Not even a month later, Barton's vehicle stepped into ring with a parking lot gate. When the "O.C." actress caught her bumper on the gate she kept driving, ripping it clear off! Later that year came the ultimate driving no-no. <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2007/12/27/mischa-barton-busted-for-dui/" target="_hplink">Barton was charged with DUI</a> after she was cruising in two lanes at once and failing to use her traffic signals.

Lindsay Lohan Arrested After Fleeing Scene Of Accident In NYC - Huffington Post

Lindsay Lohan was arrested in New York City early Wednesday morning after allegedly tapping a pedestrian with her Porsche and fleeing the scene.

Law enforcement officials tell TMZ that Lohan hit the knee of a man (who has since been hospitalized and released with no visible injuries) as she was attempting to park her Porsche in front of her hotel at roughly 2 a.m. One of Lindsay's passengers reportedly got out of her car to check if the collision damaged her vehicle, before the group left the car and entered the hotel.

Police were called and Lohan was arrested as she was exiting the hotel about 30 minutes after the incident took place. Lohan was reportedly booked on a misdemeanor charge for leaving the scene of an accident. She has since been released.

This isn't the first time Lohan has been accused of a hit-and-run. In March, Lohan was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run in Hollywood, but the actress with a long court history was never prosecuted due to the lack of a credible witness.

Lohan's arrest comes just days after the "Parent Trap" actress tweeted about the lack of "punishment" when it comes to her fellow child star Amanda Bynes' recent slew of traffic violations.

"Why did I get put in jail and a nickelodeon star has had NO punishment(s) so far?" Lohan tweeted.

Perhaps Lohan -- whose probation could be on the line with her most recent run-in with the law -- should save the judgment for the judge.

Lindsay Lohan -- Arrested in NYC for Leaving Scene of an Accident - TMZ.com

exclusive

0828_lindsay_lohan_01Lindsay Lohan was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident this morning after allegedly clipping a pedestrian in downtown Manhattan ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, Lindsay was pulling in to park her Porsche Cayenne near the Dream Hotel in downtown NYC when -- at a very low speed -- she allegedly hit the knee of a 30-something year old guy. That was around 2AM ET.

We're told one of Lindsay's passengers in the SUV got out and checked the vehicle for damage, and then LiLo and co. went inside the hotel.

We're told someone called police while Lindsay was inside ... and when she walked out of the hotel -- around 2:30AM ET -- officers arrested her.

According to our sources ... Lindsay was booked for leaving the scene of an accident -- a misdemeanor -- and then released with a desk appearance ticket ... meaning she did not have to pay bail before release.

We're told alcohol was not involved.

We're told the alleged victim was hospitalized ... however, he was not knocked down or dragged, and didn't have any visible injuries.

This arrest could absolutely trigger a probation violation in Lindsay's jewelry theft case because one of the conditions of probation is she OBEY ALL LAWS.

Even without a conviction, Judge Stephanie Sautner -- the judge in the jewelry theft case -- could haul Lindsay's butt into court if there's probable cause to believe she committed a crime.

Lindsay Lohan Posts Angry Tweet About Amanda Bynes: Five Celebs Who ... - International Business Times

In Nov. 2011, Ashton Kutcher managed to avoid knowing anything about the heavily publicized Jerry Sandusky child molestation case. An assistant football coach at Penn State, Sandusky was accused of molesting eight boys. It was later learned that the University’s main football coach, Joe Paterno, was aware of Sandusky’s actions (which occurred over a 15 year period) but did nothing to stop them. Following Sandusky’s arrest, Paterno lost his position at the school. Kutcher, took to his Twitter to express his dissatisfaction with the University’s decision. How do you fire Jo Pa? #insult #noclass as a hawkeye fan I find it in poor taste. Kutcher immediately followed tweet retraction protocol. He removed the offending comment, posted an extensive apology, and took a tweeting timeout. Had no idea, thought it was a football thing, said Kutcher. Heard Joe was fired, fully recant previous tweet! Didn't have full story. #admitwhenyoumakemistakes.” As an advocate in the fight against child sexual exploitation, I could not be more remorseful for all involved in the Penn St. case, he added. As of immediately I will stop tweeting until I find a way to properly manage this feed. I feel awful about this error. Won't happen again. But the damage was done. Kutcher was blasted by several outlets. Yahoo news referred to his tweet as ‘idiotic” and Saturday Night Live spoofed the error. The actor later posted a photo of himself next to a sign that read, “I’m with stupid.” Today Kutchers twitter is mostly comprised of bland posts such as “On average Americans eat 18 acres of pizza a day. http://bit.ly/PUjEJy #fact.” If only his 2011 moment of self-reflection had prompted him to cease tweeting altogether.
